El Disco es Cultura is my first solo exhibition and is currently on view at Real Art Ways in Hartford, Connecticut from September 21st to December 10th 2023.
Using photography, filmmaking, and audio, my work focuses on labor, love, celebration, joy, migration, sacrifice, and assimilation (or lack of) within Mexican communities that live and work in the US. This collection of work features photographs of family, my own and those from my family’s archive in a slideshow format as well as recent film work and a functioning DJ booth that I use to play Cumbia records.
This exhibition is in conjunction with RAW’s, Real Art Awards, which I received in 2022, along with five other emerging artists.
